Before comparing quotes, decide which features are essential and which would simply be useful later.

Number porting can usually be planned, but it needs accurate account details and careful timing. Businesses should list all numbers in use and check whether any older lines support alarms, lifts, payment services or broadband.

A migration plan should include user setup, call routing, testing, staff training and fallback arrangements.

VoIP call quality depends on stable connectivity, enough upload capacity, low latency and good internal network setup. Wi-Fi, routers and switches can all affect the experience.

If phones are business-critical, compare broadband and phone system requirements together rather than treating them as separate decisions.

Ask about licence terms, handsets, call bundles, setup costs, number porting, support, recording storage, reporting and what happens at renewal.

Do not compare only the lowest per-user price. A quote may exclude features, hardware or migration support that the business actually needs.
